WORLD FILMS 'THE BUTCHER' SELECTED FOR TWO PRESTIGIOUS FILM FESTIVALS
Hot New Release to Premiere at Acclaimed Cinema City International Film Festival September 26th & Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival October 23rd
HOLLYWOOD, CA (September 7, 2007) - World Films, Inc. (www.worldfilms.com), the California-based production company that's re-defining the action-adventure genre, has out-done itself with its latest film, The Butcher, a tale of a washed up ex-prize fighter turned mob enforcer, Merle Hench, who in the end turns his life around. The buzz on The Butcher is so significant, in fact, that the film has been invited to celebrate its premiere at two of the world's most prestigious film festivals - the Cinema City International Film Festival, to be held in Los Angeles September 25-30, 2007; and the 22nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival Oct. 15-Nov. 11, 2007.
"For an emerging production company like ours to receive this kind of honor and recognition is just amazing," said Thad Pryor, executive producer of The Butcher. "This new film is as wild a ride as has hit any Big Screen in 2007, so we're really proud to debut it at these two great festivals."
The Butcher stars Eric Roberts, an Academy Award-nominated actor who captivated film audiences as Buck in Runaway Train (1985). Roberts has also starred in Star 80 (1983), The Raggedy Man (1984), The Pope of Greenwich Village (1984), The Coca-Cola Kid (1985), Rude Awakening (1988), The Specialist (1994), The Immortals (1995) and many more including two hit TV Series "Less Than Perfect" and "Heroes". Eric playing the role of Salvatore Maroni is currently filming the upcoming Batman sequel The Dark Knight.
Written and directed by acclaimed director Jesse Johnson, The Butcher also features award winning Finnish actress Irina Bjorklund, Keith David (Crash, Armageddon, Something About Mary), Michael Ironside (The Perfect Storm, Starship Troopers, Total Recall) and co-stars Robert Davi who is best remembered for his role as the villain Franz Sanchez in the James Bond film License to Kill. Davi also played memorable roles such as Special Agent Johnson in Die Hard, and the singing Fratelli brother, Jake, in The Goonies.
Executive Producer, Anthony V. Pugliese III adds, "This film has everything - a great story, extremely talented performers, and action, action, action. With these two film festivals as our coming-out parties, we're anticipating that The Butcher will be our most successful film to date."
The Butcher will celebrate its world premiere at the Cinema City International Film Festival on Wednesday September 26, 2007. The film's East Coast premiere will take place at the 22nd Annual Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival (Cinema Paradisio) on October 23, 2007.
